Samuel James: Day 6

Meet Samuel James Fleenor:

When Andrew was being born, Josh stayed right with me and his camera stayed in his bag.  My mom and Lisa were both in the room snapping away with their phones as visitors came and went, and so we have some lovely shots of his entrance into the world.

When Anna was born, Josh decided to keep his camera close and he actually captured most of the birth experience.  We treasure these pictures of Anna's arrival.

Samuel James Fleenor was born on January 18th, 2016 via c-section, a new experience for us.  We scheduled the c-section the week before on the advice of our doctors who were concerned about Samuel's weight and the amount of fluid I was carrying.  The procedure went smoothly, Samuel is perfectly healthy, and it turns out he was all wrapped up in the cord and wouldn't have been able to be delivered without a c-section anyway.  We took a few pictures in the hospital, but I needed a lot more of Josh's support after delivery this time around and pictures just didn't come together.

Josh decided after being home for a couple days to spend a day capturing the experience of bringing Samuel home.  The first few days with a newborn are always a hazy blur.  This one was especially different because of the way I was stuck in my recliner, which became the center of our home, and because of the snow storm that hit the day we got home, keeping us in and (most) visitors out.

Welcome Sam.  We are glad you are here.

We ate lunch at a picnic table by the gibbons monkeys. They provided lots of entertainment:

No one could have enjoyed the zoo more than Anna. She wanted to stay at every exhibit, hug every animal. It was awesome. Thanks Grandma and Pagra!
